You are eligible to join the ISOS if your advisor or co-advisor is a member of the Cluster of Excellence ‘The Future Ocean’. Participation in the programme is voluntary.
In addition to your PhD advisor you choose at least one co-advisor. Co-advisors may come from the university or from outside (e.g. NGOs, governmental agencies etc.). It can be anyone with a scientific background who is able to contribute to your project. By applying to participate in the ISOS programme, you and your advisors enter a supervision agreement that requires two thesis committee meetings per year.
