Education for 'The Future Ocean'

ISOS is a central structure of Cluster of Excellence that brings the multidisciplinary research of "The Future Ocean" into the educational realm. This presents both a challenge and an opportunity to exploit synergies in research and teaching at the graduate level, both supporting the emerging science and creating a clear high-quality profile for young researchers within the Cluster.

Our major foci are:

  • to establish a research-driven, multi-disciplinary education platform for PhD candidates of Cluster members
  • to develop and expand an e-learning platform in marine sciences for the CAU
  • develop joint courses and multidisciplinary lecture series across the many faculties and disciplines represented in the Cluster of Excellence “Future Ocean”

A longer-term goal is to carry marine education outside of the University through expert lecture series and a life-long learning platform for maritime professionals.
