ISOS activities are (with some exceptions) open to all interested participants – from bachelors to senior scientists – from all disciplines. Course themes and content are tailored primarily to the ISOS PhD community, and are intended to provide in-depth skills as well as the opportunity to expand the breadth of ones knowledge and experience.
The courses are continually updated and new events being planned so please look in periodically. If you have a great idea for an event or course, contact us directly. Happy browsing and we hope everyone will find something relevant for their needs!
Specific Courses: for in-depth expertise in specific skills and gain basic knowledge in disciplines adjacent to your own.
Soft Skill Courses: we concentrate on more than the traditional “soft-skills” (for these, see the offer of the Academic Further Education) and offer a range of personal competencies that are profile-building for early-stage careers.
The Lecture Series give insights into the scientific approaches, research techniques and the differing (intellectual and practical) demands of the disciplines in “The Future Ocean” Cluster. In this academic year we focus on The BIG (open) Questions.
For our Career Evenings we invite guests from industry, NGOs, environmental regulators and policy-makers to provide an overview of their work and discuss their own career paths. Open, informal discussions foster personal contacts.
During Meet the Prof events you can network with communicative top-level international scientists visiting Kiel. Find out what they think are the top challenges in their field and what it takes to make a career in sciences.
Workshops on key themes are periodically conducted by us in association with partners inside and out of the University.
