Project Days on Board Research Vessels
- Day trips on the "Littorina"
From 12th to 15th October several day trips were organized for teachers and students from Kiel on the research vessel "Littorina". Physical, chemical and biological parameters were measured and evaluated in the bay of Kiel and Eckernförde with regard to oxygen content in the western part of the Baltic Sea. Oxygen-deficient areas in the deep water were compared with oxygen-rich water.
- Danzig trip on the "Alkor"
Six high school students from Schleswig-Holstein and two Norwegian students from the partner school in Bergen spent a week, from 15th until 23rd October 2007, on board the research vessel "Alkor". The study trip from Warnemünde to Danzig was accompanied by marine scientists from GEOMAR and the Kiel Cluster of Excellence "Future Ocean". The students gained insight into work on a research vessel, and explored the water in the Gulf of Danzig in cooperation with Polish students.
