CO₂ Sequestration: Research aims

The goal is to investigate the scientific and ecological consequences of marine carbon disposal and the economic and legal questions it raises.

The following questions should be answered:

• Is it legal to introduce carbon into the ocean? What does international law have to say about this?
• What influence does carbon injection have on CO₂/pH sensitive processes (e.g. calcification, carbonate dissolution, etc.)?
• What will the consequences be for marine ecosystems?
• What effect will it have on coastal regions, that is, on the direct living environment of humans?
