Leadership skills, essential for today's challenges in scientific work, can be acquired and developed. The goal of this seminar is to enable young scientists to productively deal with challenges related to interpersonal aspects of doing science.

The practical 2 day courses are designed specifically to help postdocs learn how to:

• deal with conflicts constructively
• manage time better
• be more effective by setting priorities
• set clearer goals

• work with cooperation partners

Short theoretical inputs are followed by extensive exercises. The goal is to increase the impact of the training by allowing participants to immediately apply the concepts taught in partner work, role plays or group discussion.

Participants:

All postdocs working in the Future Ocean cluster can take part. Participation is free for members of IMAP (Integrated Marine Postdoc Network).

An evaluation of the last course (September 2011) by the participants can be seen here.
